evolutionary methods for locating optimal solutions to
large-scale industrial problems such as crew assignment,
domain decomposition etc. Very large scale OO software
system for automatic creation of monthly schedules (bidlines)
of the pilots of Delta Air Lines. System in production at
Delta Air Lines since 1997. Research was nominated for the
1998 Daniel H. Wagner Award for excellence in Operations
Research practice. Research & development of a real-time
distributed Flight Planning System for Delta Air Lines
(incorporating Shortest Paths with Resource Constraints
algorithms).

1996. Research on parallel high level GA's for solving data
partitioning problems that arise in engineering and
scientific computing environments. Developed a methodology
for the provably fast and accurate solution of such
problems. Solves million binary variable problems in less
than 2' on a network of SPARCServers 20. Significantly
outperformed all other well-known methods (spectral
bisection, geometric partitioning) in solution quality.
