Networks and Optical Communications

Overview

The Networks and Optical Communications (NOC) group of AIT is actively involved in novel research, educational and consulting activities in the broader field of optical communications covering aspects related with optical transport solutions and network design in optical access, metro and core segments. Its mission is to perform research on technologies, algorithms, protocols, architectures and transport schemes for evolving high-speed optical communication systems and networks and also to spread this knowledge in the industrial and educational community.

The Networks and Optical communications (NOC) group has been established in late 2002 and  operates within “Athens Information Technology (AIT) – Center of Excellence for Research and Graduate Education”, which was created by the non-profit organization “Research and Education Society  Laboratry in Information Technology (RELIT)”.

Students' Views

"As I flashback in memory to this 2004-2005 year, I feel overwhelmed by the rewards and satisfaction from this experience. It is the special and unforgettable friends that I made in Greece, and the professionalism and friendliness of AIT's professors and staff, which gave me the opportunity to get the best boost for my career, and still manage to feel home and enjoy the beauty of Greece.  As a tech-savvy, I applied to AIT to satisfy my zeal about new technologies and I was quite confident that I will get what I want. In AIT, I was very pleased by the faculty, staff and students, because one feels he’s living among his family and friends, especially that the faculty was highly supportive, encouraging me to follow my studies."
