Summer School participants will stay in Ancient Olympia, next to the birthplace of the Olympic Games at the Olympic Village Hotel, which was completely renovated in 2000, and is situated a few minutes walk from the Archeological Site with the Museum, the Stadium and its ruins. Olympia Greece was the site of the ancient Olympic Games, which were celebrated every four years by the Greeks. Olympia was situated in a valley in Elis, in western Peloponnisos (Peloponnesus), through which runs the Alpheus River. It was not a town, but only a sanctuary with buildings associated with games and the worship of the gods.

Participants will attend planned trips designed to bring them closer to the nature of the Peloponnese, its people·and·their food. Summer School attendants will visit traditional villages such as
Methoni,
Koroni and enjoy dinner at
Lagadia in the mountainous heart of Peloponnese.

Olympia summer school participants will visit the Archeological Site, and the Olympic Museum, situated a few minutes walk from the Hotel. AIT’s Summer School offers two such visits with full guide service.
Participants will also swim in the Ionian Sea right after classes, or stay at the Hotel pool. AIT’s Summer School provides free daily transportation to nearby beaches.

Museum of Ancient Greek Technology
The Museum of Ancient Greek Technologyhouses approximately 200 (reliably operating) models of mechanisms and inventions of the ancient Greeks. The exhibits are accompanied by rich audio-visual material (in Greek and English), while many of them are interactive. Olympia Summer School participants will visit the Museum of Ancient Greek Technology guided by the museum's creator.
