RESIT, Research and Education Society in
Information Technology, is a not-for-profit corporation founded
by the INTRACOM group of companies, in Winter 2001.
RESIT’s
mission is to:
- Support graduate education of very
high standard, thus contributing to the development of highly specialized
academics and professionals, while being an autonomous and self-funded
corporation;
- Advance and promote basic and
industrial research in the fields of Information Technology and
Telecommunications, in the national and international arenas.
RESIT has appointed an Advisory Council
to provide guidance and assistance in its research and education activities.
RESIT established the
AIT-Athens Information Technology laboratory of liberal studies as a first
means to meet its educational and research goals. AIT offers a Master of
Science in Information Networking (MSIN) in collaboration with the Information
Networking Institute (INI) of the Carnegie Mellon University (Carnegie Mellon). RESIT plans
to extend its collaboration with Carnegie Mellon in selected research fields. The
collaboration of RESIT with Carnegie Mellon is a first step, others will follow.
RESIT provides all on site infrastructure and
services needed to operate the Master’s Program, including, but not limited to,
state-of the art classrooms and amphitheaters fully equipped with top quality
audiovisual equipment, fully equipped research laboratories, computer and
network facilities to support the courses, and all administrative and support
services. RESIT and/or its members provide fellowships (in the form of tuition
coverage and textbooks) to all students who get admitted to the MSIN Program.
